Typical Auger Operating Configuration

A typical auger set-up in standard pile driving leads is shown below. Auger Drive Unit is equipped with guide clips for Guide rails of the leads. Auger Flights are supported during drilling by a Fixed Auger Holder attached to the bottom of the leads and a Sliding Auger Holder which moves downward during drilling. Auger Head digs through the soil and feeds it onto Auger Flights. Auger Driving Power Pack (Electric Generator set or Hydraulic Power Pack) and Control Panel are normally mounted on the rear of crane for maximum mobility. Augering operation is controlled with Remote- Control Box which can be located in the crane operator's cabin. For predrilling for piling, the auger and a hammer are often mounted on the dual purpose type pile leads.
